Fifteen Friday-to-Sunday round trips to Montauk cost $735 on the off-peak LIRR, $936 on Jitney e-tickets and $1,290 on single Jitney fares, before the ride at either end.

Fifteen is the number of weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day in 2027. Everything below is per person, one traveler, 30 one-way trips, and uses the operators' published fares. Value packs are valid for three years, so a third pack of Montauk Line tickets ($1,017 for 36 tickets) leaves six for next year. Car costs are your own assumption per mile; tolls, parking and ferries are not included. Fares as published October 2026.
Reading the table
- The LIRR is cheapest on fare, with the caveat that most trains start at Jamaica. See the LIRR guide.
- The Westhampton Line is cheaper still for Westhampton Beach, Quogue, East Quogue and Hampton Bays, since the bus fare is $32.
- Ambassador costs more than a car for one traveler at 30 cents a mile; the legroom is the price.
- Two travelers by car split the bill: at 50 cents a mile, 3,480 miles is $1,740 for the car, or $870 each.
Weekly and monthly LIRR tickets
The LIRR sells Zone 14 weekly tickets at $173.50 and monthly at $487.75. For weekend commuters they do not pay off: three months of monthly tickets is $1,463.25 for the same 30 trips. They matter if you go out more than two days a week; see commuting from the Hamptons.
