Hampton Ambassador class

Ambassador is the Jitney's premium coach: 2+1 seating, a $68 prepaid fare against $43 for the regular Montauk Line, and a $9 option to choose your seat.

Fares and schedules checked October 2026.

The upgrade is $25 each way on the prepaid fare. The Jitney describes Ambassador as "the premier class of travel to and from the Hamptons," with 2+1 seating that gives private single-row seats and up to 20 inches of legroom, and several amenities. The coaches are marked with an A on the timetable, so not every Jitney trip offers it. The timetable is on the Montauk route page and the bus-versus-train case is on Jitney vs LIRR.

The pickup points differ too. The Jitney lists a stop at 85th Street for Ambassador only on the South Fork, and several Montauk Line stops (69th Street and 40th Street) are marked as serving both Montauk and Ambassador. Westside drop-offs are flagged with a W on some westbound Ambassador trips.

Is it worth it

At $25 a leg, a full summer of weekends is a real budget line. Twelve Montauk Line e-tickets cost $339, or about $28.25 each, and ten Ambassador e-tickets cost $499, or about $49.90 each, so the gap on a value pack is smaller than the gap on a single ticket. The summer cost guide works through the numbers.

The upgrade makes the most sense on the long ride to Montauk or when you will work on the road. It makes the least sense on a short Southampton trip, where the regular coach takes a similar two hours.
