LIRR Montauk Branch to the Hamptons
The Long Island Rail Road's Montauk Branch has eight stations from Speonk to Montauk. A ticket from Penn Station to anywhere from Westhampton east costs $33.00 at peak and $24.50 off-peak.

The branch is diesel east of Babylon, so most Hamptons trains start at Jamaica rather than Penn Station and you change there. Seven places have no station, and that is the gap the Jitney fills.

One-way fares per the MTA fare chart effective January 4, 2026. A weekday day pass to or from Zone 14 is $59.50 and a weekend day pass is $49.00. Trips within Zone 14 cost $3.75 one way. Seniors, riders with disabilities and Medicare cardholders pay $16.50 one way to Zone 14.

Winter 2026-27 trains to Montauk
The MTA's timetable data for service through February 28, 2027 shows seven through trains toward Montauk Monday to Thursday, eight on Fridays, and five on Saturdays and Sundays. Only two weekday trains leave Penn Station directly: the Friday 4:07 PM express and the 5:13 PM weekday train. Everything else starts at Jamaica, with the South Fork Commuter Connection covering local trips east of Speonk.

Getting from Manhattan to Jamaica
Jamaica is the interchange. On the 5:13 PM weekday train Penn Station to Jamaica takes 23 minutes, and the same train continues to Montauk. For a train that starts at Jamaica, take any LIRR train to Jamaica first and allow time for the platform change.
Seasonal change
The branch carries more trains in summer, including the Thursday and Friday Cannonball. The timetable above is the winter data MTA has published through late February 2027. The MTA announces summer service in spring, so a 2027 Cannonball schedule is not yet available.
