By car

Midtown to Westhampton Beach is 76.5 miles by the routes the OpenStreetMap router picks. Westhampton Beach sits on the part of Sunrise Highway that is still a freeway. Drivers leave the Long Island Expressway at Exit 70 (County Road 111) and drive south to Sunrise Highway, or stay on the expressway to Exit 71 and take Route 24 south toward Hampton Bays. For traffic by day and season, read the guides to Friday traffic and Sunday traffic.

Getting around Westhampton Beach when you arrive

Both the Jitney and the LIRR label their stop Westhampton, so confirm the exact pickup point on the Jitney stop map when you book. Neither mode is door to door, so line up a taxi or a ride for the last stretch before you arrive.

The Westhampton Line fare ($32 prepaid) is lower than the Montauk Line fare ($43), and the trade-off is fewer buses: seven each way in the current timetable against eighteen eastbound on the Montauk Line. If your plan needs a late-night return, check the final westbound time before you commit.

Francis S. Gabreski Airport is in Westhampton Beach. AirNav lists it as publicly owned, open to the public, with a control tower and customs landing rights; the airport page covers what that means for a visitor.
