Blade, helicopters and seaplanes to the Hamptons

Blade sells seats on helicopters and seaplanes between Manhattan and the East End, and it is the main scheduled air option now that Tailwind Air has stopped flying.

Fares and schedules checked October 2026.

Blade publishes its Hamptons flights on blade.com/hamptons and its seasonal passes on a separate page. Its prices move by day and demand, and the site blocks automated readers, so this guide does not quote a fare. The planning points that do not change are below, and the comparison with the Jitney and the train shows how to weigh a flight.

What changed in 2026

Tailwind Air, which flew scheduled seaplanes from Manhattan to the East End, ceased operations in January 2026 and filed for Chapter 11 protection, according to trade and news reports. Older roundups that still list Tailwind are out of date. If you read a seaplane guide that predates 2026, check the operator before relying on it.

Where the flights land

East Hampton Town Airport (HTO) in Wainscott is the airport most associated with Hamptons helicopter and seaplane service. AirNav lists it as publicly owned, open to the public, with a control tower and a landing fee, and tells pilots to check the airport's website for current rules and noise abatement procedures. Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach and Montauk Airport are the other two options. See East Hampton Airport, Gabreski and Montauk Airport.

Planning around a flight

  • Add the time to reach the departure point in Manhattan and the ride from the airport to your house. Neither is included in a flight time.
  • Flights depend on weather and visibility. Keep a Jitney or train fallback in mind.
  • Check the operator's baggage rule before you pack.
  • Seasonal passes and shared charters exist; Blade describes them on its own site.

Common questions

Does Tailwind Air still fly to the Hamptons?

No. Tailwind Air ceased operations in January 2026 and filed for bankruptcy protection.

Where do Blade helicopters land in the Hamptons?

Blade names the arrival point when you book. East Hampton Town Airport, Francis S. Gabreski Airport and Montauk Airport are the South Fork airports; confirm which one your flight uses.
