Cross Sound Ferry: Orient Point to New London

The Cross Sound Ferry runs year-round between Orient Point on the North Fork and New London, Connecticut. It carries vehicles and passengers, and its passenger-only SeaJet crosses in 40 minutes.

Fares and schedules checked October 2026.

It is the northern route into the Hamptons for anyone coming from Connecticut, Rhode Island or Massachusetts. Orient Point is at the end of the North Fork, so the Hamptons are a further drive or a further ferry. The Connecticut route page lays out the options.

  • Cars, trucks, motorcoaches and foot passengers all sail on the main ferry; the operator advertises vehicle fares as low as $37.40 for a car and driver.
  • The SeaJet is passenger-only and makes the crossing in 40 minutes.
  • Reservations are made through the operator's online system.
  • New London terminal parking is limited and costs $15 per calendar day.
  • The operator sells Captain's Card prepaid cards with bonus value.

Connecting to the South Fork

SCT Route 92 ends at the Orient Point ferry dock and runs to East Hampton about hourly. It runs every day and passes through Greenport and Riverhead on the North Fork, then Hampton Bays, Southampton and Sag Harbor. The Jitney's North Fork Line also stops at Orient Point. Drivers can cross Shelter Island on the North Ferry and the South Ferry to reach Sag Harbor.

The operator publishes current fares per vehicle class on its site; they change by season and reservation type, so they are not reproduced here beyond the headline claim.
