North Ferry: Greenport to Shelter Island
The North Ferry connects Greenport on the North Fork with Shelter Island Heights. A car and driver costs $16 one way or $26 same-day return, and a foot passenger pays $3 each way.
Fares and schedules checked October 2026.
It is the northern of the two Shelter Island crossings, and the one that links the island to the North Fork; the whole trip from the city is on the NYC to Shelter Island page. Combined with the South Ferry, it lets a car or a cyclist cross the island from the North Fork to Sag Harbor. The Jitney's North Fork Line stops in Greenport, and SCT Route 92 has a Greenport stop at 1st Street and Adams Street, which SCT lists as a quarter mile from the Greenport LIRR station and as a connection to the North Ferry.
